I got a blu-ray player several months ago but had yet to watch a blu-ray movie on it because blu-ray movies cost between 5 and 1000 dollars more then a regular dvd. Then Black Friday I get a tweet from amazon saying 'get the Blu-ray The Dark Knight for FIVE DOLLARS!' (I have free shipping with Amazon too. ) This movie was the reason I wanted blu-ray since all the bonus features were on it and not the regular dvd.

Pocket giving me a heart attack

For months the cats have, for the most part, ignored my Lego sets on the high shelf. Last night that changed. Luckily it was only Pocket, who is light on her feet, and didn't knock anything over. Pudge, not so light on his feet, tried to follow her but I took him to a high shelf without Lego and he was content.

LEGO Systems | Best Companies | WorkingMother.com

LEGO Systems | Best Companies | WorkingMother.com

Lego named as one of top 100 best companies to work for, for moms!

(And probably anyone really!)

From the working mother website:

"2010 Working Mother 100 Best Companies:

Family-friendly benefits and programs that help keep working moms' careers on track have moved forward in the 25 years since the launch of Working Mother's first Best Companies list. Now Working Mother 100 Best Companies offer programs that help all employees with their struggles to gain some work-life balance. "

www.workingmother.com/BestCompanies/node/7818/list

(^^The whole list)

www.workingmother.com/BestCompanies/100-best-companies/20...

(^^The Lego entry)

Its a short read but here are some highlights:

100% of employees say they are proud to work there.

"Primary caregivers who give birth or adopt a child get 26 job-guaranteed weeks off, with 13 fully paid; all secondary caregivers receive four weeks off, with two fully paid."

(Note, dads get paid time off too!)

Also an onsite fitness center(This is talking about the HQ in Connecticut) that includes a massage therapist. I've lost track of how many stressful days I've had where I wish I could get a massage after work!

50% of the work force is women.

Being a woman and lifelong fan of Lego I'm proud I can support a company that isn't evil!

Complete collection! Finally!

I finally got a Spartan! TRU was having a sale on Lego, buy two get one free and it counted towards the figures. It seemed like they had a full stock but I only found two Spartans so I searched around till I found another Goa'uld to give to my brother Dusty. Thanks to a 5 dollar TRU coupon I got all 3 for $1.04!

Special thanks to SavaTheAggie for the barcode cheat sheet!

TL, DR: Only 4 left to get! I got some extra motorcycle cops, a mime, a lifeguard,a skier, and karate kid. I had an extra witch, explorer disco Stu but I gave them to my mom. She wants a go'uld too.

Thursday, I went to a TRU and they had none. So I called my local TRU because the cashier(On Tuesday) told me they were getting their usual shipment that day and I should call and they could a hold a box for me. I spoke to the same cashier and she said they didn't have any and slammed the phone down.

Today I was out with my mom and she asked if we were going to TRU and I said, "Lets see how things go" because we had other things we needed and I didn't expect to find them. But after all our errands were done we were right by TRU so I ran in to check and there they were just hanging on the pegs! So I called my mom in to help out and I started going through with a bar code sheet I got from SavaTheAggie. A guy came over to pick some and I offered my sheet to help. At the checkout I had a really nice cashier(Not the same cashier as before.) So not a bad experience.

Collector buying

Collector buying
Originally uploaded by Sarah-Mitt
I bought this set for two reasons. One, I had a five dollar off coupon for TRU. Two, I needed something from this theme to go with my collection of having one set at least from each theme. Since I am not so interested in this theme, with its lime green in every set, I got the smallest(Cheapest) set. So with the coupon it was about 40% off.
Look it takes over half my cat!

(You can read about the set here:

Its all happening a hop, skip, and a jump away from where I live. (A hop, skip from where I use to live...)

Now, to be fair,(Ha! See what I did there?) I could have been there had I really, really, wanted to, but I felt family obligations were more important, Brick Fair will be there next year. Getting to see my nephew Joseph baptized, won't happen again. Besides, I took Joseph last year and he wants to go again. How could I say I was going but he couldn't?

Permanent solution to a temporary problem

No I'm not sucidal!

This is darker then I normally do and I hesitated blogging this, but I figured, its what my blog is for and doing something dark is a good outlet sometimes and not something I want to do often.

I got this idea while I was at work, playing with a broken rubber band and thinking of making a noose out of it. For the "ring bell for service" bell, but of course, the rubber band was too small but I realized it would be perfect for a mini figure! Thats when the idea started. I intended to make it a guy at first,(So I'd get less "Are you ok?" emails.) but I couldn't find my girl picture tile fast enough and I felt like making a gay statement would over shadow the suicide itself.

Demolition Dummy (Lego name)

There use to be comercials/PSA starring crash test dummies in crash safety tests not wearing their seats belts and getting horribly destroyed. The tag line was "Don't be a dummy, buckle your safety belt." They became popular and there was even action figures made of them.
